Tuition Invoice Schedule
2024-2025
Your schedule choice influences staffing decisions and BBY’s budget. BBY will accommodate increases in the number of days a child attends. If, throughout the year, you would like to change your child’s schedule, please:
- (1) confirm the change with your child’s teachers and,
- (2) e-mail BBY Administration prior to the first of the month so that the change is effective for the coming month’s tuition invoice.
Any additional days needed before the first of the coming month can be handled as drop-in days. You can sign-up for drop-in days by contacting your teacher ahead of time. More information on pricing and invoicing for drop-in days can be found below.
Purple Room
Pre-K age only, turning 5 during the school year:

Payment Options:
- Pay in full. The entire tuition amount can be paid in one check, due in August. (Fees and drop-in payments will be invoiced separately).
- Pay in 2 installments, each payment is half of the yearly tuition. First payment due in August, second payment due in January. (Fees and drop-in payments will be invoiced separately).
- Pay in 10 installments. Your first tuition payment is due in August. Subsequent invoices for each month of the school year are due on the 20th of each month. You will be invoiced each month, August through May. Drop-in payments will be invoiced separately while fees will be attached to your monthly tuition invoice when relevant.
Payments can be made online or by check. A link to online payments will be included in your monthly invoice which will be sent to you via email. Please make checks payable to The Big Backyard and mail to: The Big Backyard, 240 E. Gowen Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19119. Please write your child’s name and invoice number in the memo of the check.
Drop-in Fees
You may sign up your child for any day that you are not regularly enrolled, provided there is room in the class and it is properly staffed. Please:
- (1) confirm your desired drop-in day with your child’s teacher and,
- (2) sign up on the online drop-in sheet found in the BBY google drive.
Drop-in days will be invoiced the following month. Please note, drop-in days will be available starting in October.

Other Fees:
- Heating Fee: A $50 heating fee will be included in your January invoices.
- Co-Op Opt-Out Fee (optional): $75/month, included in your monthly invoice. Your family may choose to pay a monthly fee and forgo all co-oping duties. Families are encouraged, however, to participate in the in-class co-oping component if at all possible, even if only for 1-2 days per semester. There is a huge benefit for your child to have their parent or a familiar adult, such as a grandparent, co-op in the classroom. Likewise, the co-oping adult benefits by seeing the environment your child experiences when at school and getting to know other members of the BBY community. If you would like to opt-out of co-oping but participate in the in-class component, please contact your class representative to coordinate your availability. Please note, this is a new policy developed during the pandemic and BBY reserves the right to eliminate the policy for future school years.
- Late Payment Fee: If tuition payment is more than 5 days late, a $10 late fee will be assessed. If you know you will be late or need more time to pay an invoice, please reach out to BBY Administration to come up with a plan for paying the outstanding balance down.
